useful and handy

no longer paper

not yet wood

humble little

when you're sweaty

a towel I'll lend

a soft, absorbent

household friend

in cotton mills

it wipes up

all the spills

when it's dirty

I wash it hotter

in soapy sudsy

laundry water

The Shelf

 

sitting lonely

in the shade

an old wood shelf

somebody made

tossed to the curb

no longer needed

I saw it and

the shelf, I greeted!

I said, hello!

how do you do?

and can I give 

you purpose anew?

come home with me

with your dents and dings

and help me organize

all my things!

held by springs

one of the funnest

backyard things

you can lay down

or bounce real high

jump a little

and touch the sky

look! a cloud

a bird, a jet

bouncy black

springy net

pointy face

crusty brown

bobbing along

you get around

you have no arms

but still you sail

through ocean blue

with curly tail

The Vitamin Pills

I hope they can

fortify me

calcium, iron 

magnesium

at the store

is where I see 'em

vitamin D

and B complex

nutrients for

the nervous wrecks

don't freeze them or

make them hotter

just swallow them

with some water
